To the delight of horse lovers and equestrian folks, the popular Valley Horse Farm tour is once again being presented by the Santa Ynez Valley Historical Museum on Saturday, September 24, 2016, 1 pm - 5 pm. This year, guests will have an opportunity to tour and learn about specially selected horse farms nestled around the bucolic Santa Ynez Valley. Tour attendees will be guided through each horse farm, learning about how they operate, the international breeding programs they run, and the training methods they use. The horse farm owners will delight tour guests with demonstrations that showcase their horses and training skills.
At one horse farm guests will have the opportunity to see European warm blood sport horses in action. Attendees will delight watching Hunter/Jumpers, Dressage and Show horses demonstrate their skills in the arena. Another horse farm on the tour houses and trains thoroughbred horses in on a historically famous ranch.
At the end of the afternoon, guests are invited back to the SYV Historical Museum and Carriage House for a complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres reception. Suzan Hamilton Todd, artist for the horse farm tour publicity materials, will be demonstrating her unique painting techniques in the Museum courtyard.
The horse farm tour and reception are a fundraiser for the Museum operations.
The Santa Ynez Valley Horse Farm Tour is open to the public; children under 10 years old are not permitted for safety reasons. Tickets for the tour and reception are $40 for Museum members and $50 for nonmembers and can be purchased in advance at the SYV Historical Museum or at the gate on the day of the tour starting at 12 noon.
The horse farm tour starts at the Museum where attendees will pick up their maps and tour brochures. Each horse farm will begin its tour on the hour starting at 1 pm. Carpooling is encouraged.
