Los Olivos, CA -

The public is invited to attend the concluding performance in the 33rd annual “Schoolhouse Music Evenings” chamber concert series at St. Mark’s-in-the-Valley Episcopal Church in Los Olivos on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. The performers are The Pacific Trio founded in 1979 featuring the renowned ensemble of pianist Edith Orloff; violinist Roger Wilke and John Walz on cello that has concertized annually throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.

The Pacific Trio’s program will begin with Block's Three Nocturnes for Piano Trio and ends with Brahm's Trio in C Minor, Opus 101. Ms. Orloff, the pianist, will play Debussy's "Images" and Bartók’s Six Dances in Bulgarian Rhythm. Mr. Wilke, violinist and Mr. Walz, cellist will play E. Schulhoff's Duo for Violin and Cello.

According to the Los Angeles Times, “Top string quartets pop up everywhere, but first-rate piano trios are rare. A concert by the Pacific Trio was a special treat . . . demonstrated in convincing manner why it should be considered one of the best.” In addition to touring worldwide, they serve as trio-in-residence at the Idyllwild Arts Summer Program in Southern California. Each member has enjoyed a celebrated career on the international music scene, rich in recital, ensemble, and concerto performances. For more details, complete bios, visit www.PacificTrio.com.

Doors open at 7:00 p.m. with the concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. Individual concert tickets are $25 each and will be sold at the door, subject to availability—advance purchases are highly recommended. Discounted student tickets (with any school ID) are only $10 each for the concert. Tickets are on sale now at The Book Loft, 1680 Mission Drive in Solvang or by contacting Rose Knoles directly at 805-688-4933 or sending an email request to prtmk@sbceo.org.

Priest and Rector Rev. Dr. Randall Day remarked, “St. Mark’s is delighted to bring world-class music to the Santa Ynez Valley. The phenomenal musicians that have already performed in this year’s series, Camerata Smyrna Woodwind Quintet plus Pianist Zeynep Ucbasaran as well as Violinist Gilles Apap with Pianist Grace Fong; offered audiences an extraordinary listening experience without a drive to Los Angeles or San Francisco. We are thrilled to welcome back the Pacific Trio who played here in 2012 to conclude our 33rd year of distinguished artists performing in the superior acoustics of our church.”

Schoolhouse Music Evenings originated in the historic Los Olivos schoolhouse building on the nearby Dunn School campus, thus giving the series its name. The church is located at 2901 Nojoqui Avenue at the corner of Alamo Pintado Avenue in downtown Los Olivos.
