Spirit of the West - Carriage Symposium Weekend

The public is invited to two special events during the "Spirit of the West" Carriage Symposium Weekend at the Santa Ynez Valley Historical Museum. These include a dinner and dance on Friday, April 12, 2013, followed by Wells Fargo stagecoach and Carriage rides through the Santa Ynez back country of Foxen Canyon on Saturday, April 13.
The Western Dinner will be featuring New York strip steak and chicken with tall the trimmings. The event starts at 6pm with a Cocktail Reception at
the Santa Ynez Valley Historical Museum, 3596 Sagunto Street, Santa Ynez.
Popular Territorial Law Bank provides dance music for the festivities. The dinner and dance, including the appetizer reception begins at 6pm at the Museum.
Tickets are $40 for Museum Members, $45 for the general Public per person. Advanced ticket purchase is suggested, or buy tickets online at santaynezmuseum.org, or by calling the Museum at (805) 688-7889.
Wells Fargo Stagecoach and Carriage Rides go through the lush back country reminiscent of early days in the Santa Ynez Valley. Rides will take place along a special route located on the Chamberlin Ranch just off Foxen Canyon Road across from the County landfill. Must be 10 years or older to ride. A barbeque lunch will also be available for purchase during the event. Rides are $25 per person. Advance ticket purchases are recommended AND tickets will be sold at the event. From April 10-13, 2013, the Santa Ynez Valley Historical Museum & Carriage House proudly presents its third biennial gathering “Spirit of the West” - an educational symposium of nationally recognized speakers who will be sharing their knowledge of carriage history, construction, carriage driving and more. Proceeds from the Symposium, dinner/dance and stagecoach rides will go toward upgrades for the Parks-Janeway Carriage House located on the Historical Museum’s grounds. The Parks-Janeway Carriage House, known as the finest of its kind west of the Rockies, displays over 35 varieties of wagons, carts, stagecoaches and other historical modes of early transportation, as well as saddles, harness and tack.
