Buellton, CA -

The second Annual Santa Ynez Valley Community Prayer Breakfast is to be held on May 2nd 7:00 am Ė 9:00 am at the Marriott Hotel in Buellton. The purpose: to come together as a community and to encourage prayer for morality and ethics in the lives of all the people in our community, county, state and nation, especially for those in positions of leadership.

The five speakers are intentionally chosen as local residents and "everyday people", not pastors, to speak of how prayer affects their daily lives (shown from left to right): Chris Zikakis (owns a Honda dealership), Pam Gnekow (runs the Buellton Senior Center), Valerie Stevens (organizing a homeless shelter), Scott Carleton (headmaster of the Christian Academy), and Mark Thomson (local educator). Their biographies are presented on the website.

Our Nation will be celebrating its 62nd National Day of Prayer all across our great land and it is estimated that over two million Americans will be participating in prayer, from sunrise in Maine to sunset in Hawaii, uniting Americans from all economic, political and ethnic backgrounds.

Tickets are available (on a limited time basis!) online.

History of the National Day of Prayer

1775: The first Continental Congress called for a National day of prayer.
1863: Abraham Lincoln called for The National day of prayer.
1952: Congress established National day of prayer as an annual event by a joint resolution, signed into law by President Truman.
1988: The law was amended and signed by President Regan, designating the National Day of prayer as the first Thursday in May.

Until recently, the nearest Community Prayer Breakfast event was held in Santa Barbara at the Fess Parker Double Tree Resort and organized by the Santa Barbara Christian Business Menís Connection. Many Christians from our Valley attended and this year will be their 55th Prayer Meeting.

Last year, it was decided by the Santa Ynez Valley Christian Business Menís Connection to host the very first National Day of prayer in our Valley. With Gods guidance, the hotel was booked, menu arranged, sponsors and speakers put in place, and an abundance of marketing. The event was full to capacity and Gods presence was felt by all.

Sponsorships are being put in place for our second annual event, and includes: - Gold, Silver and Bronze. To get details on becoming a Sponsor, email info@syvcbmc.org. Sponsors are listed on the web site: www.syvcbmc.org.

The Community Prayer Breakfast will open up with Flag Salute and opening prayer, followed by a trumpet duet of The Lords Prayer. Coffee, juice, along with a full breakfast followed by readings and a prayer video will take place prior to the five speakers. The speakers will discuss there own experiences of the power of prayer, as well as discussing the seven pillars of our culture: Education, Family, Media/Entertainment, Military, Religion, Business and Government.

Tickets are $20.00 per person and each table seats ten; they can be purchased on line www.syvcbmc.org at your local Church, or phone (805)325-9402. Request for tickets may also be done via email at syvcbmc.org.
