Los Olivos, CA -

One of California's hottest bluegrass bands, "Peter Feldmann & The Very Lonesome Boys" will return to the Santa Ynez valley for a performance at St. Mark's In The Valley, 2901 Nojoqui Avenue, Los Olivos, California on Friday, November 18th. The program, which begins at 8:00 PM, will feature bluegrass classics, songs of the West, and new versions of Uncle Dave Macon material from Peter's latest CD: "Grey Cat On The Tennessee Farm". Advance tickets, priced at $10.00, are available on-line at BlueGrassWest.com and at Jensen's Music, Solvang. If available, tickets will be sold at the door for $12.00; doors open at 7:30 PM.

A singer and mandolinist who learned much of his music and performing skills from Bill Monroe, the acknowledged creator of the bluegrass style, Peter has been performing and presenting bluegrass, folk, string band, and related musics in California and Nevada since the early 1960's, and is known as the founder of the Santa Barbara Old Time Fiddler's Convention (now in its 34th year), and the original Bluebird Café in Santa Barbara, a music club highly influential on the Southern California Music scene.

The five-piece Very Lonesome Boys band includes bassist Tom Lee, veteran of the Cache Valley Drifters and The Bluegrass Cardinals, Mike Nadolson, head of Tricopolis Records in Orange County plays Martin flat-top guitar. The banjo duties are ably handled by record producer David West (Play Ball Productions), known also for his song writing and engineering skills, while Tommy Marton, a leading exponent of Texas contest style fiddling as well as bluegrass music, will preside on fiddle.

Uncle Dave Macon, first featured star of WSM's "Grand Ol' Opry" radio show, was known as a foundation stone of country music, recording hundreds of tunes and songs during his performing career from 1920 to 1952. Peter's tribute CD, "Grey Cat", presents 14 of Macon's best-loved songs in bluegrass style. "Grey Cat" , on Hen Cackle records (HC-504), has already received glowing reviews from several music magazines, including Bluegrass Unlimited and Banjo Newsletter. "Grey Cat" features performances by Peter with Byron Berline, Bill Bryson, Dennis Caplinger, Dan Crary, and Wayne Shrubsall.
